Series: Alex Cross

This note contains spoilers for the series.

Alex Cross is a homicide detective (well, Assistant Chief or some such, but working the streets in DC handling homicides) and PhD psychologist and therapist. He gave up working as a therapist when he discovered that the market for black therapists in DC wasn't big enough.

But he does get all the juicy murder cases; though he seems to specialize in being on the edge of being fired. Too committed to solving cases and too committed to cases that are important to the people in the community but not to the bureaucracy.

This seems to be the James Patterson series that he actually writes himself.
